Sharon: I was honored to have served with then-Lt. Woodward in the 2157th in Korea in 1955. I was a medic and flew as aircrew member with him on many occasions. He was a great pilot and well-liked and highly-respected by the enlisted personnel of the 2157th. He was known for his good nature and great sense of humor. My condolences on your and your family's loss.

Sharon:

Allow me to pass along the condolences of the members of Acappellago who cannot attend any of the services for Woody. We enjoyed having him in our midst, even though that time was limited. He brought a lot of enthusiasm to the music. About half of us will be singing at the services on Thursday night. Pat Smith

On 8 April 1956, the 2157th ARS was deactivated and became a detachment of the 39th ARSq. Woody remained with the 39th ARS detachment until his tour ended the beginning of June 1956.
