Robert S. “Bob” Riley, age 81, of Water Valley, MS left his earthly home on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the MS State Veterans Home in Oxford, MS. He was born September 16, 1933 in Chicago, IL to the late William Douglas and Joe Willie Riley. Bob served in the United States Air Force where he retired after twenty-two years of service. Upon leaving the Air Force, he was employed by the U.S. Post Office at the University of Mississippi where he retired after twenty years of service. Bob attended the Methodist Church of Water Valley, and was a lifetime member of the Masons with over 50 years of service. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather who thought a lot of his family and friends; and he will forever be remembered as our “hero”.


Visitation will be held Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 17, 2015 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Rocky Watts officiating. Burial will be in the Grenada Memorial Cemetery in Grenada, MS.


Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Jane Riley of Water Valley, MS; his son, Robert Douglas Riley of Water Valley, MS; his granddaughter, Destiny Morgan Riley; a great family friend, Robert Griffin; and a host of extended family and friends.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Douglas Riley, Jr.
