Edward R. Stevens:


Edward Roy Stevens, 95, died on Saturday, February 25, 2012 in Lakeland FL. He was born Oct. 2, 1916 in Cuba, MO., the son of the late R. K. and Hazel Stevens, of Sullivan, MO.

 

Prior to moving to Lakeland FL, he lived in Pacific, MO. During WWII he served as a B-17 pilot, flying 32 combat missions. For his valor he was awarded the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Air Medals. He later trained as a helicopter pilot. After time in the military, he returned to St. Louis, MO., working at McDonnell Aircraft, retiring in 1976.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, John, Wayne, Glen and William; sisters Lucy and Loree. He is survived by sister Betty Stevens Wilcox and brother Robert Stevens; his dear wife Carmen Stevens; daughter Linda Stevens; his 2 sons; Edward Jr. (Melita) and David (Sue) Stevens and stepson Dr. Herman (Maria) Matallana; nieces and nephews, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

 

Services: Funeral Mass will be held at Mary Queen of Peace Church, Webster Groves, MO. on Tuesday, March 13 at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, with full military honors.

 

Requesting memorial donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project.



REMEMBRANCES'




EDWARD R. STEVENS is my father and he passed away 02/25/2012. He was the USAFHPA oldest member.

 

His interment will be 03/13/2012, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, with full military honors.

 

My Dad was awarded the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, 3 Air Medals. The French government awarded Dad the French Legion of Honor.
