Gerald Albert Gatcomb 1945 - 2010 LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY –

 

Gerald Albert Gatcomb, 64, a native of Hartford, CT who was raised and educated in Chicopee, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010 in the St. Catherine of Sienna Hospital in Smithtown, NY. He was born on December 20, 1945, the son of the late Albert and Joanna P. (Kubasek) Gatcomb.

 

He enlisted in the Air Force in 1968 where he served as a Helicopter Mechanic for nearly 4 years during the Vietnam War and was discharged with the rank of SSGT. Gerry was employed for many years by Verizon as a planning engineer both in Western Mass. and later transferring to Long Island where he retired this past year.

 

Gerry leaves behind his loving companion, Kimberly Labor of Manhattan, his son, John Decato of Albany, VT, 3 brothers, Christopher J. Gatcomb of Stafford Springs, CT, James A. Gatcomb of Simsbury, CT, and Steven W. Gatcomb of Morganville, NJ, a sister, Mary J. Sears of Springfield, MA and his grandson, Carmen.

 

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee, MA. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Chicopee.
