Jimmy Lee Dodgen


Jimmy Dodgen was born into this world on the 15th of July 1942 in Cleveland, Georgia. Jimmy was raised in the “Smoky Mountains” of Sevierville, Tennessee. Jimmy came to rest at his home on the 10th of August 2013 in Arlington Texas.

 

Jimmy leaves behind his wife of 31 years Connie Sue Dodgen of Arlington, Texas. His children, Frank Suentzenich in Arlington Texas; Karin Dodgen of Topeka, Kansas; Sandra Dodgen of Wichita, Kansas; and Donald Dodgen of Phoenix, Arizona. He was grandpa to 12 grandchildren and 4 great grand children.

 

Jimmy spent five tours in Vietnam in several air rescue and recovery squadrons, and also with the 20th special operations squadron. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, 12 air medals and many more peace time awards and decorations. Jimmy retired as a chief master sergeant while in the Air Force.

 

Jimmy then embarked on a career in the civil aviation field starting out as a planner, working as a Contracts Administrator, and becoming a director of planning.

 

Jimmy enjoyed most, his membership in the Jolly Green Giants Association and golf.

 

He will come to interment at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Graveside services will commence at 2pm. Wednesday the 21st of August 2013.
