January 27, 1931 - March 29, 2014



SSGT (Air Force, ret.) Gerald G. (Jerry) Neal, 83, of Hogansville, died Saturday, Mar. 29, 2014, at his home. Mr. Neal was born Jan. 27, 1931, in Zanesville, OH, son of the late Arthur Raymond Neal and Myrtle Franklin Neal.

 

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, retiring as a Staff Sergeant from the U. S. Air Force after twenty years of service and working in air sea rescue and helicopter maintenance. Before making his home in Hogansville in 2010, he lived in Warrior, AL, where he was a member of Shepherd's Chapel Methodist Church and also retired as a warehouseman from Dixie Bearings in LaGrange.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Neal and is survived by his daughter, Brenda Neal Uroz of Hogansville, sons, James David Warfield of Michigan, Lewis Earl Warfield of Texas; sisters, Betty Swope, Ruthie Allen, Shirley Dixon, all of Zanesville, OH; brother, Jim Neal of Florida; grandchildren, Michael Neal of LaGrange, Tommy Warfield, David Warfield, Lucas Warfield and Claire Warfield; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Clinton Hughes will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery, with military honors.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night.
