1933 - October 12, 2007


LILLY, Colonel Warren R. "Bob", USAF (ret), age 74, of Montgomery, AL. died October 12, 2007 at Jackson Hospital.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home with Father Jim Wallace of All Saints Episcopal Church officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 - 2:30 on Tuesday, prior to the service.

 

Colonel Lilly was born in Dallas, TX in 1933, graduated from Highland Park High School in 1950 and graduated from the University of Texas in 1955. Col. Lilly was a pilot in the Air Force and proudly served his country for 24 years. Bob was shot down while flying rescue missions in his helicopter in Vietnam in 1965 and was a P.O.W. for over 7 years and was a decorated war hero and great American soldier. He received the following decorations and commendations: Silver Stars, Bronze Star Medal, Legion of Merit, Air Force Commendation Medal, 18 Purple Hearts and 26 Battle Stars.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gwen; a son, John Stuart (Pam) Lilly; daughters, Patsy (Tom) Bolding and Barbara Jean Sweeney; a sister, Betty Jo Tucker; step-sons, Larry (Sandy) Furlong and Michael (Lori Jo) Furlong; grandchildren, Robert Bolding, Matt Bolding, Mike Bolding, Timothy Lilly, Matthew Furlong, Ashley Furlong, Emily Furlong and a great-grandson, Clay Bolding.
