William Nathan (Bill) Houston, of Connelly Springs, passed away Friday, December 4. 2015 at his residence. Born June 19, 1943 in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Emma Hoffman Houston and Gus Houston.

 

After serving 3 years in the U.S. Army as a tank mechanic, Bill re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant.

 

Bill attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was married to his high school sweetheart for 48 years, the late Mary Lee McGalliard. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked motorcycles, camping, hunting, fishing, flying and traveling.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Stacie Dawn Wysong of Hauser Lake, ID; son, Samuel Nathan Houston and wife Judy of Glenburn, ME; two sisters: Marie Carolyn Lefevers of Hickory, NC, Julie Moore and husband Wesley of Hickory, NC; Roger Townsend and wife Teresa of Newton, NC; three granddaughters: Shana Laplante, Tawnya Wysong, Tamara Mobeck, all of Hauser Lake, ID; and three great-grandsons.

 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 11, 2015 in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Cook officiating. Burial will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

 

The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
