Michael Dean Leazenby, Jr., 38, of Wabash, Indiana, died Saturday, June 27, 2015 in Wabash . He was born April 16, 1977 in Wabash, to Donna (Thrush) Sparling.

 

Mike was a 1996 graduate of North Vigo High School, in Terre Haute, Indiana, and received his Bachelor's Degree in nursing from IUPUI. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He attended Wabash Friends Church, and had a passion for the nursing field. He enjoyed science fiction and horror movies. Mike wrote a fiction book, titled, Imminent Danger, based upon his career in the US Air Force, as a helicopter mechanic, and his experience as an EMT serving the Indiana National Guard.

 

He is survived by his mother, Donna Sparling of Andrews, Indiana, daughter, Cynthia Basey of Indianapolis, Indiana, sister, Stephanie (Jesse) Height, and nephews, Nathan and Brody Height both of Wabash, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Ray Forsthoffer.

 

Graveside services and burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 3, at Marion National Cemetery, 1700 38th St., Marion, Indiana with David Phillips officiating. Friends may call 8:30-9:15 a.m., Friday, at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash.
