Glenn C. Sparks:


Glenn C. Sparks, 76, of McArthur, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 22, 1937 in Lex, West Virginia, son of the late Glen and Rebecca Radford Sparks. Glenn was married to Janice Bledsoe Sparks, who survives.

 

He was a Vietnam Air Force Veteran and served our country for 22 ½ years. Glenn retired from Grant Medical Center in Columbus and DCSC. He was a lifetime member of the McArthur VFW Post #5299 and the FOE AERIE #2279 in McArthur.

 

Glenn is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Clifford) Shirkey of Columbus; stepdaughter, Kelly (Stephen) Quin of Baltimore, Ohio; stepson, Randall Snider of Jackson; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a special aunt, Kathleen Quick of Virginia.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion Rist Sparks; daughter, Kay Lynn Bothe and sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Kenneth Johnson.

 

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Thursday, June 13, 2013 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Carl Radcliff and Pastor Vince Williams officiating. Interment will be held at 1 P.M., Thursday, in Franklin Hills Memory Gardens in Canal Winchester, with military graveside services being held by the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 6-8 P.M.

So sorry to find out about Glen's passing, lately I am finding this happening more and more. I served with Glen at the 1st Helicopter, we probably had a few more assignments together. My mind isn't crystal clear as it used to be, but I do remember that Glen was a sharp troop. I too served in the Air Force for 22 1/2 Years.
