September 1971 - at Nakhon Phanom RTAFB, Thailand with the 40th ARRS "Jolly Greens" as a crew chief on HH-53C, 68-10358. While there, the sister ship HH-53C, 68-10359 was shot down on 27 March 1972 while both were on a SAR flight. As of 1999 the helicopter MH-53J, 68-10358 was still flying at Hurlburt Field, Florida.

After Nakhon Phanom, I was stationed at Shaw AFB, SC with the 703rd TASS on the HH-3E's. I was a crew chief on HH-3E, 67-14707. This helicopter was on loan to the Navy at Point Magoo, California. That was the highlight of my career, flying that helicopter from California to South Carolina.

February 1974 - I was discharged from the Air Force.
