Jim Pratz


Joined the USAF in 1970 and went to "90 day wonder" school down in Lackland and waited for flight school.

 

Spent the next year with the ARMY at Mineral Wells, TX, then to beautiful Ft. Rucker flying Huey's. Got my wings and finally back in the USAF and assigned to Rescue.

 

Then overseas to:  July 1972 to Det. 14 in Tan Son Nhut AB, RVN as a HH-43F pilot, flew on the last HH-43 mission in Vietnam.

 

Then to Det. 10 in Takhli RTAFB, Thailand until July 73.

 

Returned home, assigned to the 3246th Test Wing at Eglin,AFB, FL. Flew huey's, all types, made Captain and became Chief pilot in Feb 1975.

 

Assigned to Webb AFB, TX. in 1976 for fixed wing flight school.

 

The Air Force and I departed honorably on Jun 28, 1976.
