~MEMBERS CAREER BIOGRAPHY~

Ted Trask

I entered the service via the Delayed Enlistment Program (DEP) in Sept. of 1981 and took my oath of enlistment on January 18, 1982 at approximately the same moment that the Thunderbirds had their tragic “diamond loop” crash.

After basic I received my orders to Shepard AFB for training as a Semi-Rigid Rotor helicopter mechanic (AFSC 431X0D) on the UH-1. My first duty assignment was with Detachment 1, 57th Fighter Weapons Wing (TAC) Indian Springs AFAF supporting 6 UH-1N’s. During my time at this assignment we became the 4460th Helicopter Squadron serving the same mission.

After approx. 3 ½ years I cross trained and extended my enlistment in an effort to get a different duty assignment. I cross-trained into Avionics maintenance on the FB-111A (AFSC 45253C). For training I was given orders to first attend schooling at Lowery AFB in Denver CO, and then Plattsburg AFB in New York.  My second, and last duty assignment was with the 509th AMS/509th OMS (509th Bomb Wing – SAC) at Pease AFB in Newington NH.

When my enlistment ended, I moved with my family back to our home town in Merrimack NH.
